My studio that I use as a visual artist is an intuitive amalgam of goldsmithing, ceramics, objects, installations.
In an already overcrowded studio, space has been made for making objects to wear, jewellery for your body. I need this crowded studio because they are the building blocks of my work. I have a natural curiosity about both materials and technology. This curiosity allows me to be inspired by everything around me. Objects and materials are combined and forced, attracted to or rejected by each other. I like many different materials, I play with them. Playing, an activity that – almost literally – distances itself from realit
I think playing is a serious matter, much more serious than we often realize. Playing, like dreaming, provides an escape that is essential to my mental well-being. By working in this way I investigate things in a light-hearted manner, full of humor. After all, if you put things into perspective, everything becomes, to your surprise, more comical, contradictory and ironic.
For me, art is a broad concept, it can also be a piece of jewelry, an object that you can wear. It is also craftsmanship, which is an important aspect; are all forms of art well made?
Craftsmanship is important to me, to know thoroughly the material. Getting to know it again and again, trying it out, failing in it and starting over again, without perseverance you won’t get anywhere. There must be wrestling, without that there are no discoveries, no art, no jewellery. Making is like breathing, I can’t do without it.
Wearing a piece of jewellery says something about you, it is a statement. Each wearable sculpture/jewellery communicates a feeling, an action or a place, it is not simply designed to reflect the beauty of the wearer.
I will always follow my desire for other, imaginative jewellery and objects and what they could look like. This research, this exploration of my mind, is almost inescapable because there are still so many already discovered, but also many undiscovered images in my mind. I still want to shape all of these. I do this because of my belief in jewellery, objects to wear and belief in art.
